 Adult Spiritual Formation

The ministry is comprised of a team of seven volunteers who work closely with the pastor to create and offer spiritual programs for the parish. Our goals are the following:

To encourage each other to pray, to deepen our personal relationship with Jesus and to put this deepened love into action.

Current programs include: Soul Searching Cinema, Sr. Jean's book group, Praying with Scripture, Day of Reflection for our faith sharing groups, Lenten Workshop, Ministers of Prayer monthly intentions and presentations by guest speakers.

RCIA

The RCIA class for English speakers meets each week from October through June in the parish convent from 7:00-8:30 pm.  The usual day of our meeting is Wednesday evening, though that may be adjusted to meet the needs of the candidates.

The candidates come for an interview at the convent prior to the first meeting to help the leaders (S.Lenore, S.Gina) determine their desire and availability.

Our RCIA teaching team consists of two teams.  Team #1 (S. Lenore, Chris/Jenn Reda, Theresa Hagan), and team # 2 (S. Gina, Andre Python, and Catherine Lopez).  We rotate teams each week so that the candidates get varied viewpoints on the topics and to make the discussions more interesting.

We also invite presenters from the parish and beyond, who have expertise in a particular area, to come and speak to the candidates on one of the topics from the curriculum.

Children's Faith Formation

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

The ministry of Religious Education encompasses the religious development and formation of all of the children of St. Hugh’s Parish Community. Our program supplements the education that takes place in the home since parents are the primary educators of their children. Students aged 6 – 16 study the basics of Catholicism and prepare to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, Confirmation and in some cases, Baptism. Dedicated men, women and teens volunteer as catechists for our program and our office is always looking for individuals to help in the classrooms to teach, as well as hall monitors to help us keep the building safe and secure while children are in class. Our sessions are held on Sunday mornings and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons from late September to late April.
